Small spaces ideas

How to arrange very small spaces, which are meant for limited number of furniture items? Basically, you need to use some common sense.

There are several ways to loosen up the space in not very big areas and still fit almost everything you want. You have to keep in mind that your imagination is your only limit and use creativity in useful way. Then, you have to use your imagination to figure out how your tight room can be planned with little difficulty and still be practical in daily life.

Have you ever seen any of those storage rooms full of stuff that is hardly reachable? How about garages with useful items stacked on top of each other? They are absolutely not useful. You cannot use the same principles around the rest of the house.

It is obvious, when people clutter their garages it’s because they don’t have time to organize it or don’t think about problems with finding things in the future. Whether people don’t have time or don’t know how, organizing is the main problem with garage clutter. Invest time and money in building some shelves – it is excellent to keep from having things one on another put usually on the floor. Light duty shelving will work for the smaller items and heavy duty shelving for the larger items.

Use pegs and hooks – it will be perfect for attaching a hanging system to the wall. Another solution is to hang tools high above everyone’s head with a pulley system for lowering. You don’t need so much time to make your garage organized.

From the garage and storage room we will move to outdoor space and apply few principles around the house. Most likely you have some spare pots and pans in the kitchen. If they don’t all fit in your cabinets, they will work at the backyard. Apart from having a yard sale which is amazing idea, create for yourself a hanging system that lifts the pots and pans. Reach up and grab one any time you want and save yourself some space that would otherwise just be used for hot air.

Take it to the bedroom where you might want to watch television at night just before you fall asleep and you might want to have an alarm clock that wakes you up in the morning. Let’s say you have an annoyingly small bedroom that has just about enough room for a bed and a dresser. Place the television in the air. Why does it always have to sit on the dresser or some form of an entertainment center? There are television racks perfect for holding your television against the wall and out of the way.

If you don’t have enough room for a night stand, what’s wrong with a small shelf? It takes up less room and it can actually go above the bed if the bed is against the wall on that one side. You’ll be able to get your alarm clock on there and anything else you need like the book you read before you fall asleep.

If you are starting to get the message, traditional ways of doing things have many of us thinking they are the only ways of doing things. But, think outside of the box. If it can’t sit on the floor, put it up in the air. You’ll be able to enjoy your living space much better when you get it to work for you.

Outdoor furniture selection

Don’t underestimate outdoor furniture selection. Picking your outdoor furniture is as important as picking it for any other room in the house. Like living room furniture or bedroom furniture, the right pieces for your garden or patio can make or break your leisure time at home.

First of all, your garden furniture should match your home theme.  It is not necessary, but it is better when indoor and outdoor themes have something in common. This may require you to pick coordinated colors and designs. More importantly though your outdoor tables and chairs should match your preference and personal plans. If you are looking for more comfort than visual appeal for example you may want to settle for a chaise lounge than rigid chairs. If you are intent on entertaining guests, a small bar set or a table with matching seats would be in order.

Garden furniture

Your choice of furniture should not only depend on what you want. Choices also depend greatly on space. If you have a small patio, going for a long wicker seat will only cramp the space. For limited spaces, the best options are slim compact furniture such as a round table with high stools. Durability is another consideration you need to look into. Patio furniture should be specifically built to be resistant to outdoor elements. Among the most durable materials for external furniture is wrought iron. If you prefer a different look though, you may choose specially treated wood, aluminum or even plastic. Despite pre treatment though, excessive exposure to the sun, wind and rain will eventually degrade less durable materials. For extra protection, you may have to buy matching umbrellas or covers.

The wonderful thing about outdoor furniture is that it can add a fresh twist to any dull garden. Its foremost function though should genuine enjoyment, comfort and relaxation.

Pleasure of furnishing

Decorating your home is one of the most enjoyable things to do. Having the opportunity to select furnishings, wall color, choosing the mood and tone of your personal surroundings allows you to create an environment that reflects your personality and suits your individual taste. With this opportunity, the number of choices for furniture and interior design decisions can be overwhelming. Here are some ideas to take into consideration when arranging your furnishings and coordinating the decor in your house.
Your home should always be an extension of you, mirroring your personality and style preferences.  When you are decorating your home, it should reflect who you are and what you want people to know about you.  At the same time, it shouldn’t cost a fortune to outfit your home with furnishings and decor that you find pleasant.
If you like contemporary design, you are in luck because this is often the most inexpensive way to furnish a home.  Contemporary furniture and decorations are often quite minimalistic, meaning you don’t need to be extravagant in the number of pieces you incorporate into a room.  This type of design is about functionality rather than flamboyance, and it can save you a lot of money that would otherwise be spent on expensive antiques.  Also, contemporary design furnishings are often made out of less luxurious materials.  Don’t mistake this for cheap – you can still find Italian leather covered sofas with a contemporary twist that could cost a bundle.  However, you can find the same types of designs at lesser prices if you shop at discount shops.
Looking  at discount furniture suppliers or factory direct furnishings can lower the cost significantly.  Also, rather than spending fortunes on antiques for your home decor, perhaps you should consider decorating your home in antiques.  Many of the more modern furniture distributors have begun to distress even the contemporary furniture they sell in an effort to have it appear used and loved in lieu of the crisp, new look.
Pick out the style you love and start piecing together the designs, room by room, at affordable prices.  You’ll be thrilled with the outcome, both stylistically and financially.

Climate of the room

Light, colors, humidity – all these factors create room climate. Not only arrangement of furniture inside the room can impact on the climate of your home. Light, colors and shades can significantly increase attractiveness of any room. Important thing is to combine all these factors in the right way to get expected and satisfying result.

There are also practical rules which have to be respected interior designing. For instance, strong sunlight will fade wood, carpets and fabrics. Placing your furniture around your room you have to think also about how to protect them from sunlight. If strong light is a problem, then consider having shades or sheer drapes fitted at the window to protect that area of the room.

If you have air-conditioning make sure the humidity is set correctly not to affect wooden furniture. Home furniture, especially antique, can be drastically affected by central-heating, and especially humidity. If your heating makes the room excessively dry, then you could use an unobtrusive humidifier. Don’t place furniture too near to radiators, warm air vents or your open fires.

Let’s consider things you have to look out for when arranging furniture. Make sure there is enough space to feel comfortable, is there room for people to move around and are the walkways clear. Be practical when arranging interior plan and try to think about communication when people are seated and if they can easily talk to one another. Try to find the right balance between size of the room and number of furniture units. Make sure the furniture arrangement make the room appear balanced. It means there should be kind of harmony between scale of furniture and the relative positions.

Be practical and consider effects of light, heat and humidity to protect your furniture. Don’t forget about aesthetics, because first of all furniture should look good to please your eye. Be aware of comfort as a result of all the above. Room has to be comfortable to be in, and most of all, your furniture has to be comfortable to sit in. You need to take care when selecting your furniture, so you’ll end up with a comfortable and practical room.

Room planning – Save the space

On the beginning some general suggestions about room planning!

Certainly, furniture placed inside the room has to look very nice – you must love it! Also any room has to work well and be practical in use, it should fulfill its role and its functionality shouldn’t be forgotten. The one way to reach this goal is to arrange furniture inside the room properly and also with doze of taste. If you have ever caught between the aesthetics of furniture unit and its functionality, go for the practical – it guaranties you will use it with pleasure. Of course, this doesn’t apply if the furniture is meant only for show. A room doesn’t work well if you don’t really like the furnishings and you hardly move inside the room. It also never works when the furniture is uncomfortable to sit on and lighting is not properly adjusted.

To help you design your home furniture plan we would like to suggest to think of space and light, because rooms tend to look better when areas of space are left free. In many cases putting to many items inside the room makes it more difficult to gain pleasure from spending time there. A room filled with furniture can be uncomfortable and not even pretty. It’s always very good to leave the walkway in a room not to narrow in order to allow people move around freely. Think about details which give you pleasure, for instance place your coffee table not to far from the sofa or chair, so it can be easily reached. Don’t forget to leave some space behind chairs so they can be easily moved back without clattering against other furniture or walls. In furniture where you have drawers allow about some space in front of them to make them comfortable in use. Make sure that there is enough room to open doors and windows and at the same time do your best to arrange the items properly and aesthetically.
